Feletti picked up the glove and in addition to the fight over prices and inflation, he now added the rental problem to the agenda. Last Friday, officials held a meeting with the Chambers of the real estatein the framework of the debate for the modifications to Law 27,551, sanctioned in 2020.

In statements to radius 10 Roberto Feletti stated: “If this is a country that is going to be governed by agricultural income, real estate income, financial income, then there is no country that can stand it.”

On the other hand, the Secretary of Domestic Trade charged against the Head of Government of the City, Horacio Rodríguez Larretaand questioned his housing and urban development policy in that district.

“Larreta encourages the real estate business and then you have an empty city and people sleeping on the street,” Feletti said today.

Changes in the Rental Law

The debate for the reform of the Rent Law still has no date and continues to be postponed. The recent regulation generated crosses between the sectors that represent the tenants and those that are part of the real estate sector.

In this context, the Secretary of Commerce indicated that “we set up a table to listen” and draw conclusions about the problems and claims of each of the parties.

During the meeting with the Argentine Real Estate Chamber, Feletti remarked that the situation of the tenants is “very precarious”, for which he insisted that there must be a solution to the matter and reach an agreement on the key points to modify the law.

On behalf of the sectors that represent the real estate Chambers, they presented some points in their claims. The most important points of the proposal are a reduction of rates and taxes (gross income) and the revision of the terms of the contracts.

In that sense, they want it to be considered a “alternative index” that does not add inflation to adjust rental prices at least twice in the contract year.

It should be remembered that the current law considers an annual increase that is adjusted to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and the Average Taxable Remuneration of Stable Workers (RIPTE), through an index prepared by the Central Bank.
