Both sides have agreed in the third round. The salary plus is not quite as lavish as required by the union. It is still satisfied.

More money for the 135,000 employees of the folk and Raiffeisen banks in Germany: The now agreed collective agreement provides for a three-stage increase in salaries, as the employers’ association of German Volksbanks and Raiffeisenbanken (AVR) reports.

The first increase of 6 percent will take place on April 1, 2025. From May 1, 2026, there will be another 3.5 percent more money, the third increase by 1.5 percent will take place from April 1, 2027. The collective agreement has a term until May 31, 2027.

The salaries for higher qualified specialists and specialists should be increased in addition to the regular tariff increases in order to remain attractive in the competition for specialists. Apprentices receive 130 euros more from August 1, 2025 and from August 1, 2026.

Both sides evaluate as a success

The agreement with the German Bank employee Association (DBV) was reached in the third round of negotiations in Cologne. With a demand for 13.45 percent, the DBV had gone into the negotiations that started on January 15. The AVR represents 650 Volks- und Raiffeisenbanken and the top institute DZ Bank. The DGB union Verdi has not been a tariff partner since 2008.

“It is clear that the wage increases are economically challenging, but the term gives us planning security,” said AVR negotiator Jürgen Kikker. The DBV union was also satisfied: the goal was a quick inflation compensation. This was achieved with the 6 percent increase from April-“the highest increase in increasing in around 30 years”.
