Shares of the Walldorf technology group have been benefiting from the cloud strategy for a long time. The AI boom also drives the stock market value. But that’s not the only reason why SAP is currently in 1st place in the ranking.
The software company SAP has replaced the Danish pharmaceutical giant Novo Nordisk as the most valuable company in Europe. The Walldorf technology group is now worth 314 billion euros on the stock exchange, while Novo Nordisk is still around 310 billion euros.
SAP shares had recently expanded their recovery and are therefore currently at the top at the market capitalization in Europe. The Walldorfern also benefits the weakness of the previous leader Novo Nordisk since mid -2024.
The Walldorfer benefit from the cloud strategy and AI boom
SAP shares have long benefited from the group’s cloud strategy, i.e. the changeover of the business model from the traditional sale of software licenses to a kind of rental to the cloud. Added to this is the boom in artificial intelligence.
The Novo-Northisk papers, on the other hand, have lost around half of their value since their record high last June. A good part of the course rally driven by GLP-1 acceptance medication is gone. More and more competitors want to benefit from the boom with the weight loss injection. In addition, Novo had also missed the very high expectations with study data for a planned weight loss.
US companies dominate worldwide
The stock market ranking dominate unchallenged US corporations worldwide. In 2024, according to a study by the auditing and consulting company EY, only three German companies made the leap below the 100 most valuable stock market companies in the world: SAP, Siemens and Deutsche Telekom. 62 of the 100 most expensive companies in the world are in the United States.
