Venezuelan oil is especially valuable to the United States due to its low cost and its geographical proximity. The heavy crude of Venezuela, known as Merey, is ideal for mixing it with the lighter petroleum that the United States produces. In addition, it is suitable for China’s deep conversion refineries.
