Experts expect car prices to increase by thousands of dollars due to the new tariffs of the Trump government. The president also sees something good in it.
US President Donald Trump doesn’t care if car prices rise as a result of his new tariffs. When asked whether he said the boss of the big car companies, they should not increase the prices, Trump said in an NBC interview: “No, I never said that. I don’t care whether they increase prices because people will start buying cars from American production”.
Trump then added: “I don’t care. I hope you increase your prices, because if you do that, people will buy cars from American production. We have a lot.” After the interview on Saturday, a spokesman for the White House emphasized that the president had referred to the prices of foreign cars.
US President Donald Trump recently announced additional tariffs of 25 percent on all auto imports. They should come into force on the “Liberation Day” (Liberation Day) from Trump on April 2 in the USA.
Expert Ivan Drury said in the CNN broadcaster that one could not say how much prices would increase. “But there will be a few thousand dollars, if not more.” According to the broadcaster CBS, Americans have so far paid an average of $ 50,000 for a new car.
