IG Metall starts warning strikes in car workshops

There is a lot of business in the car workshops. IG Metall wants to put pressure on better working conditions in the spring business.

Customers of car workshops and car dealerships will have to set themselves up for restricted service in the coming days. IG Metall called up the employees in the car industry nationwide to warning strikes in order to increase the pressure in the ongoing collective bargaining. Especially in larger companies, appointments for repairs or the tire changes that frequent tire before Easter could wiggle.

Tariff officer Nadine Boguslawski complains of high work pressure on the employees in the workshops with a low appreciation. That is why many specialists have already left the industry with around 430,000 employees.

In addition to 6.5 percent more money, the union also demands relief from working hours. Apprentices are expected to receive a disproportionately higher remuneration at 170 euros. According to IG Metall, around 91,000 employees benefit directly from the intended collective agreement. So far, employers have not submitted a offer. The next appointment on April 9th in Lower Saxony is due in the regionally led negotiations.
