Construction recovered strongly in 2021: it rebounded 30.8%

In 2021, it registered a growth of 30.8% compared to 2020 and also exceeded the year 2019 by 5.4%.

Activity thus accumulated 14 consecutive months on the rise, after the falls at the start of the pandemic, and reached a level 26.5% higher than that of February 2020 (pre-Covid).

In the last month of 2021, they grew in year-on-year terms the sales of 8 of the 13 supplies surveyed.

The growth was led by the offices of Asphalt (+42.2% year-on-year), Rest (+30.2% year-on-year; includes seamless tubes, glass and taps) and Mosaics (+26.7% year-on-year). The inputs with the greatest falls were Gypsum Boards (-10.1% year-on-year), Bricks (-9.1% year-on-year) and Paints (-7.5% year-on-year).

On the other hand, 23.1% of the companies dedicated to private construction and 32.9% of the companies dedicated to public works believes that activity will increase in the January-March 2022 quarter (vs. 23.6% and 32.0% respectively in the December 2021-February 2022 quarter).
