Train separates from “ServiceStores” to train stations

The train releases its “ServiceStores” brand at the train stations. However, the kiosk-like business should not disappear.

Deutsche Bahn (DB) gives up your business with the so -called service stores at train stations. The small shops in which snacks, newspapers and drinks are sold, among other things, are to be continued under the brand names of the respective operators in the future, the train said on the LinkedIn professional platform. “The shops remain and are further modernized,” it said. But now not under the mark roof of the DB.

The federal group at the train stations focuses more on the actual core business. The focus is on the further development of the stations with better information for travelers and renovated systems.

Under the “Serviceist” brand, there were recently around 200 locations nationwide at smaller and medium -sized train stations. The shops are operated by private providers in the franchise model. They have been around since 1998.

According to its own information, the train originally wanted to give smaller kiosk operators a way to gain a foothold at train stations. “Most of the time, however, a few market leaders with a high level of competence when it comes to travel needs took over the business,” it said.

The railway is now clearing these contractual partners to continue the locations under their own brand. “The Servicestore DB brand will be dissolved by the end of 2026,” wrote the train.
