According to a media report, Amazon has given a purchase offer for Tiktok. The online retailer submitted the bid in the form of a letter to Vice President JD Vance and Minister of Commerce Howard Lutnick, the newspaper “New York Times” reported on Wednesday, citing one of a total of three people familiar with the process. The insiders had declared that various persons involved in the negotiations would not take the bid seriously. At first there was no statement by the people and companies mentioned.
TIKTOK: Blackstone and Oracle also in the race
According to former media reports, US President Donald Trump wanted to stop a meeting in the White House of Tiktok during the day. Financial investor Blackstone and the Tech Group Oracle were recently under discussion as possible buyers of the short video service. Because of a possible threat to national security, the congress had passed a law with a large majority that obliged the Chinese Tikok mother group bytedance to sell its US business by January 19, 2025. Otherwise, the platform will be blocked nationwide. Trump initially extended this deadline until April 5. It is unclear whether the Chinese government will have a sale of TikTok.
