The State Duma proposed to turn off electricity to miners

The State Duma sent proposals on the regulation of mining to the Cabinet of Ministers, according to the minutes of the meeting of the State Duma Committee on Energy dated January 27, which Izvestia got acquainted with.

Among the recommendations is to allow power supply companies to disconnect illegal miners from power supply. Such an initiative was previously sent to the State Duma by the Association of Guaranteed Suppliers and Energy Retail Companies (SOEs and ESCs).

Also, the State Duma proposed to introduce the obligation of Internet providers to provide energy sales companies with information about the location of IP addresses from which mining is carried out, and information about its parameters.

The document notes that it is worthwhile to finalize the conceptual range of the existing legislation – for example, to introduce a definition of household electricity consumption not for profit.
In the apparatus of Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, Izvestia was told that after receiving the proposals they would be studied and worked out.
