Turbulence due to US tariffs: Trump tries to perseverance

The US President has caught up with the radical all-round in trade policy. That is not without consequences. Trump now agrees with the Americans that the matter is not very easy.

In view of the turbulence through his enormous customs package, US President Donald Trump is directed to the Americans. “Stop through – it will not be easy, but the end result will be historical,” wrote Trump on the Truth Social platform. “This is an economic revolution and we will win.” The United States would have been exploited for a long time, but that was over. Jobs, companies and businesses would “like never before” through the step back to the USA, he promised.

A few days ago, Trump presented a global customs package that puts the global economy to the test. The controversial advance directly ensured turbulence on the stock exchanges. The head of the US Federal Reserve Fed, Jerome Powell, predicted higher inflation and slower growth for the USA.

In a first step, new flat -rate tariffs of ten percent came into force – on imports from all countries to the USA. On April 9, a complex mechanism will follow in a next step, which provides even higher tariffs for countries with which the USA has a particularly large trade deficit. Other punitive tariffs on imports to the United States that have already been announced are also preserved.

The consequences of Trump’s customs policy

A global trade conflict could plunge the global economy into a deep crisis overall. Some countries have announced that they are the second largest economy in the world after the United States. The EU Commission also prepared countermeasures.

An import customs works similarly to a tax. The submission must be paid by the importing company – in this case by companies in the USA. However, it is likely that the importing companies do not simply bear the higher costs themselves, but pass it on to consumers. This increases prices, inflation could be heated again. In the past few weeks, Trump had remembered that new tariffs in particular will burden American consumers through higher prices, always dismissed and spoke of temporary smaller “disorders”.
