Deutsche Bahn wants to better inform about disorders

A stop does not apply or the delay starts to bound – experiences like this have already made most rail customers. In the future, the company will at least better inform about this.

Change of track, failure of a hold, delay – Deutsche Bahn wants to better inform its passengers about annoyances like this. In a stable operational location, the passengers evaluated the customer information with the school grade two plus, said the railway officer for digitization and technology, Daniela Gerd Tom Markotten, in Berlin.

“But the truth also includes: in the event of a fault, customers are not yet satisfied.” Then the assessment falls out a grade worse. The aim is to be evaluated by 2027 in the event of irregularities and disorders with “good”. Above all, it is important to inform in good time.

Example Half failure: By the end of 2024, long -distance traffic was to be informed in good time, about a failing stop eleven minutes before the planned stop. This period is now 60 minutes.

“The forecast is always as good as the database”

The leap -up increase of delay forecasts should also be avoided. The forecast is now updated every two minutes if an ICE or IC is longer than planned at the train station, said Gerd Tom Markotten. This happens during long -distance transport while driving, and regional traffic should follow.

But: “The forecast is always as good as the database we have in the end.” Artificial intelligence is dependent on the data to arrive at the rail interfaces in real time. The Deutsche Bahn also depends on its competitors.

In addition, the railway wants to inform and at the same time inform the train on all channels – i.e. the DB Navigator, the station display or on the homepage. Depending on the channel, there are currently still different delays. And: In some Ices, no real-time information can be displayed on the screens because the trains are too old.
