The German trade association files a complaint against the Chinese online retailer Temu at the Federal Cartel Office. The association criticizes the price specifications for dealers on the platform.
The Trade Association of Germany (HDE) takes a complaint with the Federal Cartel Office against the Chinese online marketplace Temu. The association sees behavior contrary to antitrust law on the platform. “The allegations are based on the fact that Temu deprives the business partners who sell goods through the platform,” said the HDE sovereignty.
Specifically, Temu stipulates the retailers selling there that their prices may be a maximum of 85 percent of what they would achieve for a comparable product on other platforms. “Rather, Temu also reserves the right to decide on the amount of the final sales prices.”
The association criticizes even more. Numerous test purchases would have shown that products offered on Temu often do not correspond to product safety regulations. “Anyone who offers and sells goods in this country must also adhere to our rules and laws,” it said.
The HDE has long criticized the procedure of online shopping portals such as Temu or Shein. Both the federal government and the EU have already announced that they want to control them more. Problematic practices such as false discounts, fake reviews as well as missing and misleading information on the legal claims of consumers were found.
