The results of the survey of January 2022 were released today by the Buenos Aires Statistics and Census authorities, in anticipation of what will be the publication of the data from the Indecwho will make official the same number at the national level for the basic food baskets (CBA) and total (CBT), both parameters being the ones that respectively mark the limits of the homelessness and poverty.
How much did it take in the City to be middle class?
According to the report published today, one person needed at least $124,250 in the City to stay in the middle class. This represented 5.2% more than in the month of December.
The statistic does not include in the final number published the costs for the payment of housing rent or common expenses, which are considered consumption expenses.
These numbers anticipate what will be the publication of the data at the national level, which will be released next February 17 by the Indec.
The most weight gains are undoubtedly those of food, which increases the value of the basic and total basket in either case. To this must be added the costs of basic services and others.
The increases in food and inflation have a greater impact on the lowest groups, such as those who are in poverty.
The accumulated increase in the last twelve months was 48.5% for the indigence basket, 47.1% for the poverty basket and 48.8% for the middle class.
Line of poverty and indigence in the City
Unlike the Indec, which only recognizes the categories of poor and indigent, the City has six social strata in its classification.
In this way, the January survey of Estadístia y Censos de la Ciudad showed these values, according to each category, to survive:

- Non-indigent poverty $42,7467.49 to $79,988.04
- Vulnerable non-poor from $79,988.05 to $99,400.02
- Fragile mid-sector from $99,400.03 to $124,250.25
- Middle class from $124,250.26 to $397,600.83
- Well-off sectors $397,600.84 or more
