The ex-boss of Telekom waves the chief post on the Supervisory Board of the software company. Until then, it will take a while.
Former Telekom boss René Obermann is to become the supervisory board head of the SAP software company. This emerges from a letter from the current chairman of the supervisory board Pekka Ala-Pietilä to the shareholders for the general meeting. Obermann is currently chief supervisor from Airbus. For the position, he brings the “strategic foresight, the understanding of the market, the leadership skills and experience in corporate management,” wrote Ala-Pietilä.
However, it should take a while until the handover: Obermann should be nominated for the election to the supervisory board in 2026 with the prospect of taking over the chair in 2027. Since the mandate of the current SAP supervisory board leader 2026 ends, the supervisory board will ask the shareholders in the coming year to extend its term in office to enable a secure handover.
SAP has been looking for a long -term new supervisory board for a long time. SAP co -founder Hasso Plattner occupied the post for over 20 years – he resigned last year. Punit Renjen should actually follow him, the former head of the consulting company Deloitte. But SAP planned surprisingly. The company named the company different ideas about the future role of the chairman of the supervisory board. With the former Nokia manager Ala-Pietilä, an old acquaintance jumped in who has already worked on the SAP supervisory board.
