Company pension claims make three percent of Austrian pension income. The system is almost only based on the state levy procedure, which, from the point of view of the Agenda Austria think factory, is not future -proof due to demographic development. In Scandinavia, for example, the second pillar is much more pronounced.
Agenda Austria suggests introducing a mandatory operating pension for everyone, so every employer would have to provide provision for employees. “It may be surprising that we, as economic liberals, criticize current voluntariness. But studies show that such offers are hardly used,” says Agenda-Austria economist Carmen Treml.
