Union wants to move to the top of the railway

The time of Richard Lutz as the head of the railway should soon be over. Union and SPD want a fresh start in the leadership of the federal group.

The Union urges a quick change at the top of the Deutsche Bahn. “This is not a project that we only want to attack at the end of the legislative period. Board and supervisory board decisions belong at the beginning,” said Union Group Vice Ulrich Lange (CSU) of the German Press Agency. “As members of the Bundestag and representatives of the owner, we are not satisfied with what the board and supervisory board of the Bahn have delivered in recent years.”

Lange also said to the “Süddeutsche Zeitung”: “The railway board must be streamlined by a third”. The committee currently consists of eight members.

The coalition agreement states: “Both the DB Group and the Infrago should be reorganized by the Supervisory Board and the Board of Directors, with the aim of mapping more expertise and achieving slimming.” The CEO of Deutsche Bahn has been the 60 -year -old Richard Lutz since March 2017. The chairman of the Supervisory Board is Werner Gatzer (66), former long -time State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Finance.

Dissatisfied with the lead of the train

For a long time as a parliamentary group is responsible for traffic and was a member of the traffic group in the coalition negotiations of the CDU, CSU and SPD. With a view to the condition of the rail network and the poor punctuality of the trains, he told the dpa: “There were many films and charts, but little was implemented by what was promised. The result also has something to do with the management of the group.” If you are no longer satisfied with the management of a company, you have to act. “This affects the board, but of course this also affects the supervisory board as a control body. We consider the bodies to be streamlined as urgent.”

At Deutsche Bahn there are massive problems with unpunctual trains. Last year, only 62.5 percent of long -distance trains were on time. The rail network is ailing. Highly contaminated routes are to be fundamentally renovated in the coming years. That costs many billions of euros. The Riedbahn between Frankfurt and Mannheim started last year. The train also led to a loss of billions again last year.
