Vonovia gets a new boss – a good start to the financial year

At the beginning of next year, there will be a change at the Vonovia real estate group. Vodafone’s CFO takes over the helm.

Germany’s largest residential property group Vonovia will receive a new company boss at the latest in early 2026. The Supervisory Board unanimously decided to appoint the current Vodafone CFO Luka Mucic as the new CEO, the DAX group said. Rolf Buch will hand over the management of the company at the end of the year. Until then, he would lead Europe’s largest housing group and incorporate Mucic into his new role.

For the current year, the company continued to be confident on Tuesday and confirmed the annual goals. “In the middle of an economically volatile environment worldwide, Vonovia has a pleasant start to the year,” said Vonovia boss Buch, according to the message.

Like all landlords, Vonovia continues to benefit from a high demand for living space in the metropolitan areas. In the first quarter, the rent rose to an average of 8.15 euros per square meter – that was 4.8 percent more than a year earlier. In Germany, the average monthly rent was 7.96 euros per square meter at the end of December. The bottom line was Vonovia at the end of March a profit of 515 million euros, after almost 336 million euros in the previous year.
