Armor boom drives Hensoldt – net loss doubles

In particular, systems for the Kärtjet Eurofighter drive the order stock to a record value. The bottom line is that it looks worse.

The upgrade in Europe has given the radar specialist Hensoldt another thrust on orders and sales. In the first quarter, the provider of armaments electronics collected orders of over 701 million euros, making a good five percent more than a year earlier.

In particular, systems for the Fighter Jet Eurofighter drove the order stock to a record of around 6.9 billion euros. Sales rose by a fifth to 395 million euros, as the company listed in the MDAX announced in Taufkirchen near Munich.

The bottom line is that the growth does not pay off – on the contrary: the net loss due to the shareholders doubled from around 14 to 30 million euros. Hensoldt earned 30 million euros before interest, taxes, depreciation and special effects (adjusted EBITDA), but that was nine percent less than in the previous year.

CEO Oliver Dörre, however, sees the company on course to increase sales this year to 2.5 to 2.6 billion euros. Of this proceeds, about 18 percent should remain as a profit before interest, taxes, depreciation and special effects. In the first quarter, this margin was only 7.6 percent after 10.2 percent a year earlier.
