A survey shows that the craft is again tentatively optimistic after years of doldrums. This also has to do with a great advance of trust.

Craft businesses in Germany are again a little more confident about the future. This is the result of an economic survey by the Central Association of the German Crafts, which is available to the German Press Agency. “For the first time in a long time, the companies in the craft sectors send positive signals for the first time,” said Holger Schwannecke’s general secretary of the association.

This has a lot to do with the change of government: the expectations of the new black and red federal government are great. “Bureaucracy reduction, reliable energy prices and investment -friendly framework conditions must not be further adjourned,” warned Schwannecke. Otherwise, the easy optimism of the companies can fizzle out quickly. “The craft is ready, wants to tackle and get started,” writes the association.

Location: Mau – Expectations: Optimistic

In the economic survey, the almost 23,000 companies rated their current business situation a little worse than a year ago. Many reported falling sales and thinner order pads. The development is therefore slowed down by the further weak housing construction, by cautious private consumption and by persistently weak exports.

The expectations for the future, on the other hand, were significantly better than last year. For the first time since the 1st quarter of 2023, an economic recovery was expected again, the association said. The craft assumes a trend reversal in housing construction until the end of 2025. The additional investment options created by the federal government in the infrastructure should also increase the construction prices, it said.
