Mother’s Day is a flower tag day. Florists in the flower shop don’t earn very much. After all, there is a salary increase for some.

Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day are probably the two most important data in the calendar of flower sellers. While the latter traditionally celebrates on May 11th (May 11th), the festival day of lovers is always on February 14th. During these days, customers in the flower shop also go to the flower shop who otherwise rarely show up or not at all.

If you are surprised there, how much a medium -sized bouquet of flowers can cost, you should keep in mind that something has to get stuck among the flower traders and their employees. Because florists are truly not among the major earners. Although the job with three years of vocational training is one of the “professionally oriented activities”, it is mostly modestly remunerated.

Despite high sales on Mother’s Day: florists deserve modest

According to the Federal Employment Agency, the average monthly content of florists is just 2220 euros. Gross and full -time. Every fourth florist earns less than 1902 euros, a quarter more than 2495 euros. The average values of the employment agency are based on around 10,700 salary data for this profession. Floristry is one of the worst paid apprenticeships.

After all, the responsible union IG Bau agreed with the Association of German Florists (FDF) a two -stage salary increase last year. As of July 1, 2024, the tariff salaries rose by 2.5 to 6 percent, and on July 1, 2025, another 2.5 to 4.75 percent were added. The hourly wage is 15.48 euros from July. The collective agreement runs until June 30, 2026.

However, the minimum salaries negotiated by the union only apply to the west tariff area. Employers reject the results for the East German federal states. The employees there are currently only the general statutory minimum wage, which rose to 12.82 euros an hour an hour on January 1. According to IG Bau, the florist industry has a total of around 30,000 employees.
