Minister of Economic Affairs: Changes to Energy Policy

The Ministry of Economic Affairs has moved to the CDU by the Greens. The new minister outlines her plans.

Federal Minister of Economics Katherina Reiche has announced a “pragmatic energy policy”. Although external factors such as the war of aggression in Russia against Ukraine, the economy can be achieved, but there is also a lot to be achieved through reforms, said the CDU politician at the CDU economy in Berlin. “In fact, many challenges are homemade.”

“We need new gas power plants”

Taxes, energy and high labor costs would burden Germany. Among other things, a “realignment of the energy transition is needed,” said Reiche. Climate protection may have been overempined in recent years. “We have to recognize that the electricity from renewable sources alone does not reach a cheap power supply, especially not for energy -intensive companies. We need new gas power plants.” The tenders for the 20 gigawatts of capacity provided in the coalition agreement should start as soon as possible.

The Federal Minister of Economics also campaigned for openness to technology. It is impossible to have all solutions in 2025 that are needed to become climate -neutral in the middle of the century. Among other things, the separation and storage of carbon dioxide for unavoidable emissions of energy -intensive companies and gas power plants are necessary.

The building sector must save carbon dioxide, said series. But for that “no Lex heat pump” is needed. The expansion of renewable energies advanced Germany in climate protection, but caused enormous system costs and risks. For example, the expansion of renewable and the network expansion must be better coordinated.
