FTI WEG, Detour is booming: The tour operator sent significantly more Germans on the winter vacation than in the previous year. What were the trends?
According to the tour operator Dertour, it has a strong winter season. The second in the industry recorded a plus of guest of 31 percent compared to the previous year, as the company announced. “In some cases, strong guest growth is due to the fact that guest volumes have been distributed in the market since the ahead,” said Dertour product manager Sven Schikarsky.
Last June, FTI, the third largest tour operator for TUI and DERTOUR, had registered bankruptcy and shortly afterwards all the trips already booked canceled. Detour manager Mark Tantz said in December that a total of 400,000 additional guests were expected.
Strong winter business 2025/26 expected
And according to the tour, there are already numerous bookings for the coming winter season. For the winter of 2025/2026, a guest plus of 22 percent was recorded compared to the previous year, it said. The countries with the strongest growth rates are Egypt, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates.
Last winter, however, the vacation was most frequently spent on the short and medium-sized route. The most popular travel destinations were:

Individual trips are booming
Anyone who booked a winter vacation on the tour would like to have a tailor -made trip. The demand for individual vacation rose by 58 percent, it said. “The importance of personalization has increased in recent years,” said Schikarsky. “Today, travelers are increasingly emphasizing that their personal interests and needs are met.”
In addition, according to the tour, the desire for comfort was unbroken: more than a third of vacationers (34 percent) therefore opted for a 5-star hotel. A 4-star hotel booked around half of the guests (51 percent). The proportion of 3-star hotel bookings fell to 15 percent.
So long the vacation took average
According to the dentour, the average travel time on the long -distance route was 13 days and remained unchanged compared to the previous year. On the middle distance, vacations lasted an average of 10 days and were therefore shorter for a day than in the previous year.
