IG Metall: Ford reacts to strike call call

In most cases, anyone who works at Ford in Cologne is a union member. Participation in a strike should be correspondingly high. Now the management speaks up: it wants to talk.

Before the first strike at the Cologne Ford works, some movement could come into the stuck negotiations between management and IG Metall. The union announced in Cologne that after the strike announcement there was actually “a reaction of the employer side”.

In a short -term meeting of the tariff parties on Tuesday afternoon, the management wanted to inform about new solutions, it said from IG Metall. The proposals will be listened to and then decide whether the negotiations will be resumed during this week. “After all, we would like to achieve a good result for the workforce as soon as possible,” said trade unionist Kerstin Klein. Negotiations are currently on hold.

No matter how the conversation will go on Tuesday afternoon – according to IG Metall, the strike will definitely be carried out on Wednesday. “Tomorrow we will be with our stream items at the workshops and turntrolls,” said IG Metaller Frank Koch.

A company spokesman did not want to comment on the alleged solutions. IG Metall called for a strike for Wednesday – this has not yet existed in the almost 100 -year history of Kölner Ford -Werke GmbH with its currently around 11,500 employees. The management would like to delete 2,900 jobs by the end of 2027. In contrast, the Sturm union runs: it accuses the top of the company with a concept of concept with which the continued existence of the German subsidiary of the US group is at risk.

Ford produces two new electric car models in Cologne, the sale of which is below expectations. The company is therefore under pressure.
