More delays: Construction sites brake train in April

Deutsche Bahn does not get punctuality under control. In April there were more trains with delays than in the previous year. The group refers to a large number of construction sites.

The long -distance trains of the Deutsche Bahn were more out of time in April than in the previous year. Only 61.9 percent of the ICE and IC trains achieved their goal in the past month without greater delay, as the federal group announced. In April 2024 it was still 64.3 percent.

One reason for the poorer reliability is the many construction work, it says. The number of construction sites in April increased again compared to the previous year. A lot was built in particular over the long Easter weekend.

A train on the train from a delay of six minutes is considered late. Train failures are not taken into account in this statistics. However, they flow into the so -called traveling punctuality. This records the proportion of passengers who reached their destination with a maximum delay of 14 minutes and 59 seconds. This proportion was 76 percent last month, which means a decline in around 3 percentage points for the previous year.

The many construction sites are necessary because the rail network is overturned and overloaded. The railway is therefore in a year -based renovation process – also financially. One component is the so -called general renovations of busy corridors. The all-round moderation is intended to reduce the susceptibility to interference on the sticks and increase reliability. Before passengers notice something from this, however, years should go away.
