In Germany, as many people still go to a paid work. When distributing part-time jobs, there are still clear differences between men and women.
More part -time was never: In Germany, more people had a part -time job in Germany than ever before. Almost half (49 percent) of women and every eighth man (12 percent) did not pursue their employment with the full number of hours, as the Federal Statistical Office reports on the basis of the microcensus.
The part -time quota for both genders and for the entirety (29 percent) reached new maximum values. Self -assessments of the respondents between the ages of 15 and 64 were taken into account. A total of 77 percent were employed in this group – also a new high, because women in particular have also started their professional life. In 2005 they were only 59 percent of them instead of 74 percent. For men, the proportion of employed people rose from 71 percent to 81 percent in the same period.
The significant higher part-time share in women increases with children. The part -time quota for mothers of minors is 68 percent. The mothers with small children under the age of three are even 73 percent. Fathers, on the other hand, work even less often with a share of 8 percent than in the entirety of all male workers.
