Which deodorant really stops sweating? Stiftung Warentest has tested aluminum -containing sprays, scooters and pens against armpits. With mixed result.
The Stiftung Warentest has published a critical. Out of 15 antipersedents tested, only two received the overall grade “good”. Some deos did not deliver the promised sweat protection, many contained environmentally critical substances. Sprays, scooters and a pen were tested.
The test winners were two aerosol sprays: the “Seinez Anti-Transpirant Sport” from DM and the Lidl product “Cien Men”. They only offered satisfactory reduction in sweat, but good protection against armpit smell and very good environmental properties. Some other products, including all the scooters and pens tested, kept the sweat better in chess, but contained more critical environmental substances.
Only antiperspirants, which, in contrast to other deodorants, not only provide good smell, but should also reduce the shit. Four aerosol sprays completely failed in the welding test and were rated “poor” in this test point. For the test, the Stiftung Warentest sent men into a 38 -degree hot sweat room and then evaluated the amount of sweat that had collected in the pads under the armpits.
Stiftung Warentest: deodorants with aluminum not unhealthy
The antiperspirants can only deliver welding protection thanks to the aluminum salts it contains. These temporarily narrow the sweat glands in the armpits, so that fewer wetness forms. It has long been feared that the aluminum could get into the body in large quantities and impair health.
However, the Stiftung Warentest writes more recent studies. The Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) and the EU Scientific Committee (SCCS) of the EU therefore assessed the health risks through deodorant containing aluminum.
For the devaluation in the test of the Stiftung Warentest, on the other hand, other substances led that are difficult to break down. In addition to harmful environmental effects, some substances still unclear whether they can also have health effects, the goods testers write.
