Apple Group: Trump wants iPhone production in the USA and threatens to tariffs

Apple has most of its devices manufactured in Asia. US President Donald Trump doesn’t like that – he wants more production in the USA. Now he increases the pressure on the iPhone group.

US President Donald Trump threatens Apple with import tariffs of 25 percent. He had informed Apple boss Tim Cook a long time ago that he would expect the company to be manufactured and built in the United States in the United States, “not in India or anywhere else,” wrote Trump on his online language tube Truth Social. “If this is not the case, Apple has to pay a custom of at least 25 percent to the USA.”

The Trump government has been demanding for some time, Apple should also build the iPhone – the most important product of the group – also in the USA. Experts, on the other hand, hold that this would require tremendous investments and drastically expensive the smartphones.

Apple had built supply chains in Asia with huge factories, especially in China, under Cook’s director in Asia. In recent years, the iPhone Group has increased production in India and Vietnam. A trigger for this was delivery bottlenecks according to Covid-Lockdowns in China.
