What would be a break in Germany: The Danish parliament voted 70 for the pension. It is intended to reflect the increasing life expectancy.
In Denmark, people should only be able to retire in the future at the age of 70. The parliament in Copenhagen passed a law to increase the retirement age on 70 years until 2040. 81 voted for the text on Thursday, 21 on the other hand, as the parliament announced on its website.
The new law sets the retirement age for all citizens born after December 31, 1970. The retirement age in Denmark is currently 67 years.
Pension with 70
Denmark has continuously adapted the official retirement age to life expectancy since 2006. The numbers are checked every five years. The retirement age should increase to 68 years by 2030, and it should be 69 years in 2035.
The 47-year-old Social Democratic Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said last year that she was ready to check the system as soon as the official retirement age had reached 70 years.
“We do not believe that the retirement age should be increased automatically,” said Frederiksen of the daily “Berlingske”.
