Trump to tariffs on EU goods: Not looking for deal

The European Union and the United States have been negotiating high US tariffs for weeks. Now the US President threatens tariffs of 50 percent – and initially shows no gathering.

After the threat of punitive tariffs in the amount of 50 percent against goods from the European Union, US President Donald Trump is not very compromising. “I’m not looking for a deal,” he said in the US capital Washington. The United States had determined the deal, it sounds: tariffs of 50 percent. “But again: there is no customs if you build your factories here.”

If someone decides to build a factory in the United States, they are ready to talk about a “small delay”, Trump continued. You will see what happens, but he currently assumes that the threatened tariffs would come into force on June 1st.

In the morning (local time) Trump had announced Truth on his online language tube Truth Social that he was from the EU for punitive tariffs of 50 percent that should come into force on June 1st. It is completely unclear whether these will actually come into force. Trump has regularly threatened with high tariffs in the past – and then carried out a U -turn.
