The latest surveys consolidate more approval to the work of the new federal government and Friedrich Merz. And the AfD?
After a rather bumpy start, more eligible voters are currently expressing themselves positively about the work of the federal government. This is also reflected in the approval values for the parties. According to the current survey of the opinion research institute Insa on behalf of “Bild”, the Union parties (CDU/CSU) now have 27 percent (+1), the SPD unchanged at 16 percent.
The AfD, however, loses a point to 24 percent. In the ZDF Politbarometer published yesterday, the party, which is part of the right-wing extremist party, falls to 23 percent in the so-called Sunday question. According to the same survey, B90/The Greens comes to twelve, the party Die Linke to ten percent voters approval. All other parties remained significantly below the five percent hurdle.
AfD loses, but the federal government from “good” to “rather good”
According to the INSA, 34 percent of those entitled to vote now rate the work of the federal government as “good”, an increase of eight percentage points compared to the previous week. 44 percent are dissatisfied. According to Politbarometer of the ZDF, a majority of the respondents (51 percent) assess the work of the government as “rather good”, only 32 percent as “bad”.
Such differences in poll values result due to different question formulations, weights of the results and statistical fault tolerances. For example, INSA specifies an error margin of up to 2.9 percentage points upwards for the percentages cited here. With the political barometer, this margin is typically two percentage points.
Chancellor gains approval
Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU) was definitely able to grow in surveys. According to the Insa, 47 percent of the respondents were satisfied with his work. The political barometer shows the same value.
“The increasing values for the Union fit the increasing approval for the black-red federal government and the Federal Chancellor. Everything at a very low level, but for the first time since taking office with a positive trend,” Insa boss Hermann Binkert told “Bild”.
