Deutsche Bahn wants to compensate for customer loss with discounts

Because many travelers are dissatisfied with their service, Deutsche Bahn has to fight for customers. The problem is big in long -distance transport. But the company has a plan.

With new discount campaigns, Deutsche Bahn wants to boost demand in long-distance transport and increase the utilization in the ICE and IC trains. The train said that this was around 44 percent in the first four months. That was a little better than in the same period last year. However, the railway is far from the self-plugged annual destination of a 50 percent capacity utilization.

In particular, the demand was weakened in April. Many construction sites have led to significantly longer travel times, said long-distance transport sales officer Stefanie Berk. Many potential passengers sought alternatives.

Missmanagement has ruined the train. When will it finally get better again?

How Deutsche Bahn wants to attract more travelers

The lower utilization is also on longer trains, which are now used on busy routes and because it is even lower in the first months of a year in the travel industry, Berk emphasized. Nevertheless, the railway wants to win significantly more travelers, especially over the upcoming holidays.

The federal group therefore attracts new discounts for various passenger groups. Among other things, for younger and older passengers, business travelers or normal drivers, the train has something in store. If you book your trip more than four weeks in advance, you will receive 20 percent early bird discount on the so-called flex price. In addition, this can be canceled free of charge until a day before the start of the journey.
