The short -time work was not enough: the Swiss solar manufacturer Meyer Burger pulls the emergency brake with his three German daughters.
After years of financial difficulties and recently short -time work, the German subsidiaries from the Swiss solar manufacturer Meyer Burger have applied for bankruptcy with a good 600 employees.
331 employees are employed in the Solar cell production Meyer Burger Industries in Bitterfeld-Wolfen (Saxony-Anhalt). So far, 289 people work in mechanical engineering and technology development at Meyer Burger Germany in Hohenstein-Ernstthal (Saxony).
The company, based in Thun, said in Switzerland, said that the renovation of receiving the locations has so far been unsuccessful. “As part of the proceedings, they should now be continued together with a preliminary insolvency administrator to be appointed,” it said.
The company should have submitted its business figures for 2024 by May 31. Against the background of the continued financing talks for the restructuring, the company applied for an extension of the deadline.
The subsidiaries in Switzerland and the United States should be preserved. Just a few days ago, the solar module production that was still under construction was discontinued in the US state of Arizona. Production there was intended with solar cells manufactured in Germany.
