The number of income millionaires is increasing – where the big money is made

For many utopian, reality for tens of thousands in Germany: an income of one million euros. A new statistics show how many people earn seven digits.
In Germany there were almost 35,000 people who have earned one million euros or more per year. This emerges from figures from the Federal Statistical Office. The data from 2021 – newer locations have not yet been used.
Compared to the previous year, the number of income millionaires increased by around 5200 or 18 percent. “Part of this above -average increase (can) will be attributed to the higher inflation in 2021,” said the authority based in Wiesbaden. “PandeMiebDeigen special effects can also contribute to explanation in 2021.”
Where do the high income come from?
Most of these well -earners (60 percent) said according to the information as a main source of income, 19 percent earned their money as an employee, 15 percent were self -employed. On average, an income of 2.8 million euros was achieved. For comparison: The average income of all employees in Germany in 2021 was around 49,000 euros. Income from stocks or other capital assets no longer flowed completely into the statistics.

While the number of income millionaires is increasing, poverty increases in Germany, the union and social science institute (WSI) of the Hans Böckler Foundation indicated. “The feeling of great social inequality is water on the mills of those who basically question the democratic order,” said the scientific director Bettina Kohlrausch, according to Reuters news agency.
