Augsburg -based company is cutting well -known designation
A few years ago, the name Diesel had to give way. Now the name is also removed – another relic from the great time of the combustion engines.
The large engine manufacturer Man Energy Solutions has separated from its historical name and is in the future EVERLENCE. The company, which has around 15,000 employees worldwide, justified this with the fact that one is no longer just building engines and turbo machines, but also providers of large -scale heat pumps and other climate -friendly technology. “We want to express this with our new name Everlence,” said CEO Uwe Lauber.
The art name Everlence is composed of the English -language terms “Ever” (always) and “Excellence”.
This means that the corporate headquarters will no longer be represented by the name in the future. The abbreviation you stand for the Augsburg-Nuremberg, founded more than 100 years ago. The name MAN remains a well-known trademark by the Munich bus and truck manufacturer of the same name.
Diesel was removed from the company name in 2018
A few years ago, Everlence had already repaid the name Diesel from its own name – the company previously operated for a long time than was diesel & turbo. This happened, although the Augsburgers, together with inventor Rudolf Diesel, built the world’s first diesel engine at the end of the 19th century and thus had an important role in the spread of the internal combustion engine in the 20th century. But the name Diesel no longer appeared to the company in 2018.
So far, the Augsburgers were particularly known for their large engines for cargo ships or by engines for power plants. In the future, the company wants to expand increasingly with hydrogen technology.
The company belongs to the VW group. In the past, however, there has always been speculation that the Wolfsburgers could separate from the Bavarian mechanical engineering. In 2020, however, it was agreed that the Augsburgers will remain at VW for another four years. After this period has expired, there were recently again media reports that VW checked a sale.
