Löwensenf will only be manufactured in Düsseldorf until the end of the year

After 60 years
Conclusion for Löwensenf production in Düsseldorf

Löwensenf has been produced in Düsseldorf for over 60 years – but for a long time the factory there will no longer exist, as has now become known. The brand continues.

The days of Löwensenf from Düsseldorf are counted: the production there should be gradually ended by the end of the year, the Löwensenf owner Developer Senf & Feinkost GmbH said this week. The company had already announced in February that production should be shifted. So far, it was unclear when exactly this should happen.

In the course of the relocation of production, the works council and the union agreed on a compensation for interests and social plan, it said. In addition to closing production, components of the agreement are a plan for relocation and severance payments. 48 employees are affected.

Develey emphasizes that the Löwensenf brand is preserved

The company underlined that the Löwensenf brand will be preserved. The mustard is produced at other locations of the Developer Group with unchanged recipe and quality.

Develey does not want to give up the traditional location of Düsseldorf: a Senfladen, which is located in the old town, should remain.

The Löwensenf factory at today’s location directly at the airport has existed since 1965. Developer had taken over Löwensenf GmbH in 2001.

The company had justified the relocation, among other things, with a lack of a development perspective for the rented location. Most recently, the annual production in Düsseldorf was 6000 tons of mustard.
