In the morning, fuel is up to 13 cents more expensive than in the evening
Anyone who fuels at the right time can really save. The fluctuation width of fuel prices within a day almost doubled compared to a year ago.
The fuel prices currently fluctuate exceptionally. Between the daily high in the morning and the daily low in the evening, the E10 variety is now 12.5 cents per liter, with Diesel it is even 13.3 cents, as an analysis of prices in May showed by the ADAC. This has been the highest difference for E10 since the start of the regular examination by the ADAC, with diesel the second highest. A year ago, prices had only moved by a good six to seven cents during the day.
It is very worth “using the regular fluctuations in fuel prices during the day when it comes to refueling and refueling at the time,” advises ADAC fuel market expert Christian Laberer. This means that you can save much more than a year ago.
Expensive in the morning, cheap in the evening
The austerity formula is called a maximum of shortening: in the evening instead of in the morning. The fuel prices in the morning rise sharply from around 6:00 a.m. and reach their daily high shortly after 7:00 a.m., i.e. in rush hour traffic. Then diesel is an average of 9 cents more expensive than in the daily average, Super E10 by 8 cents. From there, however, it goes steeply downhill, at around 9 a.m. the price is only 2 cents above the daily average, before it rises slightly again and then moves in waves towards evening low. Shortly before noon, Sprit is already a good 2 cents below the daily average, shortly before 6:00 p.m., 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. it is even around 4 cents, whereby the low is a little bit cheaper than the other two shortly before 8:00 p.m. From 10 p.m. it goes up again, stays over relatively calm, before going up steeply the next morning.
Overall, the ADAC counts eight typical price peaks during the day. This corresponds to the record level of the previous year. It can also be significantly more at individual petrol stations, the evaluation of the traffic club is based on average values. At the beginning of the year, the Bundeskartellamt had counted an average of 22 price changes per petrol station, with some there were even more than 40 or in rare cases more than 50 a day. So there is no guarantee of getting the exact price low in the evening. The chances are at least good.
