Chimney sweeps are happy about many trainees
Is it because of the work clothes? The number of trainees in the chimney sweep trade reached record level last year. The industry wants to position itself more in the area of heat transition.
As many young people as in ten years have not started training as chimney sweeps last year. “796 apprentices began their training nationwide,” said the Federal Association of the Schornsteinfeger trade on the occasion of its association conference in Berlin. “This corresponds to an increase of 29 percent compared to the previous year.”
In order to compensate for demographic change, an average of around 650 new trainees per year are necessary, association president Alexis Gula told the German Press Agency. This quota was clearly exceeded last year. “Of course there is always more.”
Many qualification options
The industry wants to convince young people, especially with a variety of professional qualification opportunities. In addition to acquiring the technical college entrance qualification, there was the possibility of a dual study in the field of renewable energies as well as the usual master and further training courses. The chimney sweep districts would be advertised every seven years in Germany. The chances of taking one of them as a self -employed person are correspondingly good.
The chimney sweep craft also wants to position itself more as a contact for climate-friendly heat systems. The Federal Association is therefore committed to documenting all types of heating in Germany as an industry. This is already the case with fossil heat generators, said Gaula. The industry also wants to absorb electro -based heating types such as the heat pump and district heating.
“It simply makes sense to expand our order and put a comprehensive building of the building in the hands of the state -loving companies,” emphasized Gaula.
