The Yalta forum has been postponed from spring to autumn – late September-October – due to the coronavirus. Georgy Muradov, Permanent Representative of the Crimea under the President of the Russian Federation, told Izvestia about this.
“The forum has been rescheduled for autumn, but not because of the tension around, but because of the pandemic — it’s impossible to plan for the spring, the peak of the incidence has been passed, but it’s still quite high. Therefore, the decision was made to postpone to the end of September-October, ”the politician specified.
About 1.1 thousand new cases of COVID-19 infection are recorded per day in the region. Collective immunity, according to the Stopcoronavirus.rf portal, exceeds 70%.
This is the third postponement of the largest economic event in Crimea: the Yalta Forum was supposed to be held in April 2020, then it was postponed to November 2021. However, a month before it began, the head of Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, announced that the event would be postponed until next spring due to the coronavirus epidemic.
“You know that in Yalta the infection is in the authorities, so everyone is working remotely. We decided to postpone the forum to next year and hold it in the spring,” the head of the republic noted then.
The Yalta Forum has been held in Crimea every year since 2015. The main topic of the VI Yalta International Economic Forum already three times postponed in January 2020 was the implementation of national projects. In 2019, the forum was held from April 18 to 20, and over 4.5 thousand people from 100 countries took part in it.
