Since Israel’s attack on Iran, crude oil prices have increased and subsequently the fuel and heating oil prices. The EU and the USA are alarmed – and want to act if necessary.
Together with the United States, the EU wants to prevent a strong increase in energy prices because of the war between Israel and Iran. She had spoken to US President Donald Trump on the topic and it was ready to coordinate with like-minded partners to secure the stability of the markets, said EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen before a summit of the G7 group of democratic industrial memories in Canada. One is very vigilant about the effects of the conflict on the international energy markets.
The Leyen did not say which measures are being considered against large price fluctuations. In theory, strategic oil reserves could be released or discussions with important oil export countries could be sought.
Prices for fuel and heating oil have already increased
At the petrol stations in Germany, the effects of the war between Israel and Iran had already been felt in the past few days. According to numbers of the ADAC, the prices for petrol and diesel increased significantly in the Germany -wide cut. On Sunday morning at 8.20 a.m., a liter of Super E10 cost 1.749 euros, one liter of diesel 1.639 euros. The day before the same time, it was just under a cent less. On Friday, they were even five or six cents below the Saturday prices. The heating oil prices also increased significantly.
The background to the developments include information from Iran, according to which Israel also attacks large oil and gas fields in the country in his attacks.
