The Persian Gulf and the street of Hormus are important trade routes. Many ships, especially oil tankers, are on the routes. A British authority reports problems.
The sea dealership supervision of the British Navy (UKMTO) reports electrical disorders of ships in the Persian Gulf and in the street of Hormus near Iran. Several reports have been given the supervision, the short message said. There are significant effects on the so-called automatic ship identification systems (AIS), with which navigation and ship data are exchanged via radio.
The authority recommends being careful. Disruptions are to be further reported to UKTMO. The authority did not provide any information about the reasons for the disorders.
Israel has been attacking Iran since the night of Friday. Iran reacts with counterattacks to Israel. In the past, Iran threatened to block the street of Hormus. It is an important oil transport route on the country’s southern tip. The passage is still open.
