A “Monumental Day” instead of the “Beautiful Day”: After decades, U2 star David Howell Evans Aka The Edge changes citizenship.
The U2 guitarist David Howell Evans (63) born in England accepted Irish citizenship. “It is a monumental day for all of us,” said the musician, who was known to the artist The Edge, the broadcaster Rté after the ceremonial ceremony in Killarney. On Monday and Tuesday, around 7,500 people accepted Irish citizenship.
Today’s rock star was one year old when his parents moved to Ireland with him. He was a bit late with the paperwork, said Evans. But now the time is ripe. “I couldn’t be proud of my country,” he said. Based on one of the U2 World Hits, RTé wrote that it was a “Beautiful Day” for the guitarist.
U2 was founded in 1976 in the Irish capital Dublin by singer Bono (Paul David Hewson), The Edge (Evans), bassist Adam Clayton and drummer Larry Mullen Junior. The band always comments politically, especially on Irish topics.
