Marry in the white wedding dress? Many women dream of this – and are mostly inspired by stars and royal models. A comprehensive bridal show in pictures.
A robe like a cream baiser: This was what wedding dresses had to look like in the 1980s. The model of Princess Diana, which she wore with Prince Charles in 1981, served as a model and with whom she and Reifrock, balloon sleeves and meter slips moved into the St. Paul’s Kathedral. At that time, many women wanted to be like Diana. If you couldn’t fish a prince, at least wanted to look like a fairytale princess.
Wedding dresses: white instead of velvet and purple
Other British royals once shaped bridal fashion, including Queen Victoria, when she walked in front of the altar in 1840. For her wedding with the German Prince Albert of Saxony-Coburg and Gotha, she wore a white dress. A color that was unusual in royal circles at the time was chosen together and purple for this special day. From then on she gave the tone at weddings.
Today bridal fashion is primarily based on simpler clothes, such as that of Princess Kate or that of Carolyn Bessetet-Kennedy. The wife of John F. Kennedy Junior wore an unadorned but elegant slip dress at her wedding in 1996. Model Kate Moss’s dress was also similar. The time of the cream baisers? It is finally over.
