One leg had to be removed from the former TV presenter Björn-Hergen Schimpf. In an interview, he now talks about his fate.
As a TV presenter, he was a cult: Björn-Hergen Schimpf presented the council show “What am I?” And the travel quiz “a day like no other”. Finally, however, a terrible private stroke of fate was public: Schimpf was amputated. In conversation with the magazine “Bunte”, the 81-year-old describes for the first time how he is doing-and reveals another private tragedy that nobody knew about yet.
Björn-Hergen Schimpf had to be amputated by a leg
At the beginning of the month, Schimpf’s good friend and colleague Jörg Draeger made the leg amputation of the TV star public in the “colorful”. Now Schimpf himself answers the magazine when asked how he is doing with dry humor: “I will no longer be able to go down the big show staircase.”
He impressively describes the first moments after the life -changing operation when he realized that his leg is really off. “The amputation threatened, but it was not entirely clear,” says Schimpf. But when he woke up from anesthesia, a doctor said to a nurse present: “Keep the blunt.” Go further: “I knew that the worst had joined, they had to lose my leg.”
Further private stroke of fate
As a reason, he sees his cigarette consumption, which he did not vomit even after the operation and loss of his leg. Another stroke of fate also reveals Schimpf in the new interview. “My wife died of cancer last year. We were married for 60 years. I don’t want to say more about that.”
Björn-Hergen Schimpf began his long career as a moderator at Radio Luxembourg in the late 1970s. In addition to the new edition of “What am I?” He presented the travel quiz “a day like no other” and worked for “sonnenklar.tv”. In 2008 he took part in the jungle camp and took eighth place.
