Protz and protests: The guests of the Bezos wedding in Venice
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his fiance Lauren Sánchez marry in Venice. There are around 200 celebrities on the guest list. Some of them showed up on site.
“Big Fat Italian Wedding”: Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his fiance, former TV presenter Lauren Sánchez, celebrated her wedding in Venice. It is a festival of superlatives: around 200 prominent guests are on the guest list, including the actors Orlando Bloom and Leonardo DiCaprio, the reality TV stars Kylie Jenner and Kim Kardashian as well as the moderators Gayle King and Oprah Winfrey. The detailed course of the multi -day celebrations has so far been secret. A great reception with fireworks is said to be planned for Thursday evening, the actual wedding is to take place on Friday in the garden of the Fondazione Giorgio Cini on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore. On Saturday evening there should be a large final party on a shipyard.
Not everyone is enthusiastic about Bezos’ Protz wedding. In the past few weeks there have always been protests by locals and activists. The environmental protection organization Greenpeace unrolled on Markusplatz a large poster with a laughing portrait and the inscription “If you can Rent Venice for your Wedding you can pay more tax” (“If you can rent Venice for your wedding, you can pay more tax”).
