Process against Sean “Diddy” Combs: public prosecutor’s office withdraws indictment points

It is a surprising turn shortly before the end of the spectacular process: The public prosecutor’s office dropped several charges against rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs (55) one day before the final plates. As can be seen from a letter to the responsible judge, the allegations of the attempted kidnapping, trying aroused and aid to sex trade will not be followed.

Officially, the public prosecutor’s office justifies this step to follow the instructions of the judge, to “tighten” the jury structures. However, according to the media reports, the time and the type of accused suggest that the prosecutors had difficulty providing sufficient evidence of these serious allegations.

Especially with the kidnapping allegations, the prosecutors seem to be on uncertain terrain. The indictment referred to two different cases: on the one hand to a former employee who was supposedly taken to a building and subjected to a lie detector test to determine whether she had stolen Diddy’s jewelry. On the other hand, it was about his ex-girlfriend Cassie, who is said to have been recorded in the London Hotel.

However, it is even more surprising that the withdrawal of the arson. During the process, the musician Kid Cudi testified that a Molotow cocktail had been placed in his Porsche. According to his representation, Diddy stuck behind it out of jealousy because Cudi led a relationship with Cassie at that time. However, the prosecutors could not establish a direct connection between Combs and the fire throughout the proceedings.

In their letter, the prosecutors do not specifically explain as far as the aid to sex trade is concerned. However, the main complaints about sex trade remain – a central point in the procedure against the 54 -year -old. Despite the withdrawn charges, the allegations of organized crime and extortion are also pursued. Combs continues to threaten a lifelong prison sentence in the event of a conviction.
