The project is based on the South Korean science fiction comedy Save the Green Planet!, Written by Jang Joon-Hwan and produced by Sidus.
Focus features presented the first trailer in the film Bugoniathe last collaboration between the director Yorgos Lanthimos and the star Emma Stone.
Jesse Plemons Heads the cast next to Aidan Delbis, Stavros Halkias and Alicia Silverstone. Lanthimos directs from a script of Will Tracy.
What Bugonia is about
Bugonia It is a new version of South Korean Science Fiction comedy Save the Green Planet!written and directed by Jang Joon-Hwan. It is about two friends obsessed with the conspiracies that kidnap the influential executive director of an important corporation because they are convinced that it is an extraterrestrial that aims to destroy the earth.
Stone and Lanthimos are also producers, through their respective Fruit Tree and Push companies, in their latest teamwork after Poor Things, The Favourite and Kinds of Kindness. Among the producers are Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe by Element Pictures, Ari Aster and Lars Knusden of Square Peg, and Miky Lee and Jerry Kyoungboum Ko of CJ ENM.
In statements to the Variety portal last year, Peter Kujawski, president of Focus Features, declared: “Yorgos Lanthimos is a film visionary with a unique style that has captivated the world public. We are delighted to collaborate with him, Emma and the incredible teams of Element, Square Peg and CJ ENM to reinvent this twisted story.”
Ko added: “I am delighted to present this intriguing story, based on the hidden jewel of Korean cinema, in collaboration with the ideal talent team and producers, and with a study of trust. I hope that Yorgos generates a dynamic chemistry with its unique style and the originality of the narrative.”
The film will be released in selected cines in a special edition limited on October 24, followed by a broader expansion on October 31.
