Investigations ended after ten months

The investigation has ended: Crown Princess Mette-Marit son Marius Borg Høiby is accused of triple rape.

After months of investigation, the Norwegian police came to a conclusion: Marius Borg Høiby (28), the son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit (51), are accused of a variety of serious crimes, including three severe sexual offenses according to the Norwegian rape paragraph. Now it is up to the public prosecutor’s office to decide whether charges will be charged.

At a press conference on Friday, police lawyer Andreas Kruszewski announced: “The police thoroughly examined the cases and interviewed numerous witnesses, carried out several searches and spotted extensive digital material.” The investigation is so far that the police could come to a result.

Double -digit number of victims

The list of allegations against the 28-year-old is terrifyingly extensive. He is accused of a total of 23 alleged crimes, including a case of rape with sexual intercourse, two cases of rape without sexual intercourse and four cases of sexually offensive behavior. In addition, there is a case of abuse in close relationships, two assault, property damage, threat and five violations of a ban on contact.

According to the police, the number of allegedly damaged people is “in the double -digit range”. Høiby’s defense lawyer Ellen Holager Andenæs specified according to NRK that it was “between 15 and 20 victims”. However, several procedures were also discontinued: the allegations of his ex-girlfriend Juliane Snekkestad were dropped for evidence, other cases were time-barred or could not be sufficiently proven.

Høiby rejects rape

Marius Borg Høiby’s defender Petar Sekulic emphasized his client’s willingness to cooperate: “He takes this very seriously and worked very well with the police.” He has appeared for a total of 14 interrogations since May. The most serious allegations – in particular the three rape rape systems – reject Høiby “to the sharpest”.

It is still unclear when the public prosecutor makes its decision on a possible indictment. According to the first reports, this should not happen before the end of summer. If there is a trial afterwards, Høiby threatens a multi -year prison sentence in the event of a conviction.

Royal family not interviewed

According to their own statements, the police heard no other members of the royal family. “Your possible statements would have contributed to the clarification of the things,” Kruszewski explained this decision. The Norwegian royal family reacted cautiously: “The case is going in the legal system and follows normal procedures. We have nothing more to add.”

The investigation began after Høiby’s arrest on August 4, 2024. After a violent examination of his girlfriend, he had been arrested and had been under the influence of alcohol and cocaine. At first he admitted violence and property damage – however, more and more allegations were added in the following months.

Marius Borg Høiby comes from an earlier relationship between Mette-Marit and belongs to the royal family, but does not wear a primary title and is not an official member of the Norwegian royal family. With Crown Prince Haakon (51), his mother has two other children: Princess Ingrid Alexandra (21) and Prince Sverre Magnus (19). The case has heavily burdened the Norwegian royal family and is one of the largest scandals in the recent history of Norway’s monarchy.
