Rachel Brosnahan plays Miriam (Midge) Maisel, an Upper West Side housewife who makes her way in stand-up comedy. Taking the show back to the 1960s, Season 4 begins with Midge’s career in tatters as she decides to rebuild it on her own terms. It is filmed at Steiner Studios and throughout New York City. The five boroughs feature especially prominently in the upcoming season, which was filmed during the Covid and travel restrictions.

Brosnahan has won a prime time emmy for Best Actress in a Comedy Series, two Golden Globesthree Screen Actors Guild Awards of the Screen and two Awards Critics Choicean unprecedented victory for an actor in any series.

The cast includes the four-time Emmy winner Tony Shalhoubthe three-time Emmy winner Alex Borsteinthe Emmy nominee Marin Hinkle, Michael Zegen, Kevin Pollak, Caroline Aaron and the Emmy winner luke kirby.

Maisel won 20 Emmy Awards with 54 nominations in its first three seasons (including Outstanding Comedy Series); five Critics Choice Awards (including Best Comedy Series); two Producers Guild Awards; a Writers Guild Award; five Screen Actors Guild Awards (including Best Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series); and a Peabody.

In 2019, Sherman-Palladino was the first person to earn Emmy Awards for both Comedy Writing and Comedy Directing in the same year.

Maisel became Amazon Studios’ first multi-season greenlight for a new series when the studio picked it up in 2017 with a two-season order.
