On July 2, the women’s football European Football starts in Switzerland. The royals and celebrities are also excited.
The European women’s football championship begins-and the players can count on prominent support. While the best teams in Europe in Switzerland are preparing for the beginning of the tournament on July 2, Royals and Stars mobilize their fan power for the respective national teams.
Norwegian prince children show team spirit
The Norwegian Royals are particularly motivated on the official Instagram channel of the royal family. In a video, Prince Sverre Magnus (19) and Princess Ingrid Alexandra (21) swirl Norwegian flags and send congratulations to their national team. “Good luck with the European Championship,” the son of Crown Princess Haakon (51) and Crown Princess Mette-Marit (51), while his sister adds: “And good luck at the opening game. We are very happy to be there today.”
The Norwegian footballers play the first game against host Switzerland at 9 p.m. (live in the ARD), three hours earlier is Iceland against Finland. “Let’s go, Norway!” Complete the Norwegian Royals.
Prince William motivates the Lionesses
Royale also comes from England: Prince William (43), who acts as President of the English Football Association, visited the St. George’s Park football center in Burton-Upon-Trent a few days ago, in which the English “Lionesses” prepared themselves for the EM. He now shared a video of the visit and added congratulations to his national team again: “Good luck to the Lionesses at Women’s Championship. Be proud of everything that has been achieved and believes to bring the victory home!”
The British heir to the throne is successful with regard to the footballers: After winning the title in 2022, the Lionesses are the reigning European champions – at that time they won 2-1 against Germany. And even at the World Cup in the following year they made it to the final.
Beatrice Egli receives special honor
The Swiss pop singer Beatrice Egli (37) plays a very special role: The former “DSDS” winner will sing the Swiss national anthem today before the tournament. “I immediately agreed and do without a fee. For me, that’s a matter of honor,” reveals Egli.
The appearance is a matter close to the heart for the musician: “In my opinion, this European Football European Championship is not only an important event, but also socially. The tournament is a sign of equality for women.” She also keeps her fingers crossed: her heart beats for both the German and the Swiss eleven. “My summer fairy tale would be a final between Switzerland and Germany. I keep my fingers crossed for these two nations.”
At the second European Championship game of the DFB team against Denmark on July 8th (6:00 p.m. in the ARD), the singer is also there live in the stadium.
